Yes you read it right.160 Tbps is currently the fastest internet speed that is made available between two points .We always want fast internet but this internet is insanely fast.So let's take a look how and where is this internet speed made possible.

Where in the world do we get this insane 160 tbps internet speed?
This internet speed is available between two points with the help of a under sea cable.The link is established via cable between Virginia Beach,USA and Bilbao ,Spain which has a maximum speed of 160 Tbps.


What does 160 Tbps speed mean for us?
As mentioned before its speed is 160 Tbps  but what it means for us is that 71 millon people can stream Content in HD at the same time.The link can transfer 160 terabits per second .But as these are link speeds and all the users share the total link speed therefore we cannot get exactly 160tbps speeds at home but the speeds the speeds are still many times greater than the current speeds


How are we able to achieve 160 tbps speeds?
This is made possible with the help of a Fibre Optic Cable named Marea(spanish for "Tide").The cable is manufactured by Microsoft,Facebook and Telxius.The cable has same dimensions as that of normal water Pipes.What makes this cable unique is that various fibres are used with different frequencies so that it can transfer high amounts of data.The cable also has Amplifiers set up at certain distances that ensures that the cables transmit data at high speeds.

Can we achieve internet speeds better than this?
The answer is certainly a Yes .Because we are currently using Infrared light to transmit data via fibre optic cable but in the future if we are able to make use of UV light we can certainly have a larger bandwidth and can achieve speeds even better than these.
